Miranda Harwell

Miranda Harwell, Executive Director

With a passion for education and a strong belief that knowledge is power, Miranda Harwell was appointed Executive Director of the Community Financial Education Foundation in May of 2008. Prior to joining the CFEF, Harwell worked as the Operations Director of an Advertising and Public Relations firm in Wilmington, N.C.

Harwell is an alumnus of the University of Georgia, where she earned a B.S. in Journalism with a Minor in Child and Family Development. Her love of politics drew her to Washington D.C., where she worked as a finance assistant for North Dakota Senator Byron Dorgan. From there she made her mark at the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee as the youngest PAC Director in the committee's history.

Harwell's passion for financial education is rooted through experience with her own personal finances and mistakes made as a young adult.

Harwell is a Certified Educator in Personal Finance and a devoted advocate of financial literacy. Recently, Harwell has become involved with the Financial Literacy and Education Commission sponsored by the U.S. Department of the Treasury.
